rocketman
Went to the Churchill's Of Dereham Shooting Ground near Swanton Morley last Sunday (29th May), 5 stands of 10 clays, the only hard stand is their high tower, which isn't that high but quiet a short opening to hit the clay, dropped 4 clays on that stand. Hit 9 on the first, 8 second, 8 third, 6 forth and their ******* double teal on stand 5 kept throwing broken clays, so it was have one at a time or get really pixxed off waiting for a double, all for £11.00. £1.20 for a bacon roll that wouldn't fill a small child, 60p for a cup of tea, a small minority of regulars made you feel welcome but for the most it was cold stares and defiantly no conversation, I have also been to the Mid-Norfolk Shooting ground, Never again, the guy their who apparently owns it doesn't like our sort, he told us so, :o and we were only walking round from stand to stand. I think he had the hump because we shot stand 1 which shoots over the dump next door, the woman in the club house said it was ok but he went ballistic apparently it should have been roped of not to be used, what a ***.. So are there any good clubs in or around Dereham ? better still is their any rough shooting to be had ? i am available any day / night
countryside lass
Try Fair Clay Targets (www.fairclaytargets.co.uk) run by Alan Evans. 100 bird sporting this Sunday (5th) at Watery Lane, near Beeston (about 5 miles away from Dereham). 11am start, 10 stands with good mixture of sporting targets, all for £22 and if you struggle on a stand you can go back and have a practise. You do your own button pressing and scoring. Free tea and coffee (get there early as it disappears quickly!), no food at the shoot but the local pub in Beeston (The Ploughshare) puts on a good spread for the shooters afterwards (you need to put your name down for the pub when you pay for your card). There's plenty of banter and lots of friendly insults (all free). FCT shoot on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month and there is a fixture list on the website. I have shot at both the places you name (once was enough) and have a similar opinion to you ......... FCT everytime for me.
