Afternoon all. Another Pigeonwatch Newbie here :)

A local RFD told me there were 50 shoots within 15 miles of the shop, but had no list  So here I am.

I'm interested in any info on regular shoots in the area bordered by Dunstable, Wycombe, Thame, Oxford, Stony Stratford, Newport Pagnell. I like the straw bale type shoots so I'm really after some local knowledge of good places to practice rather than up-market 35p per clay grounds or corporate entertainment centers (Oxford, Churchill's Etc.)

Here is what I have so far:

Drayton Parslow (Great location, 100 sporting - Sunday/2 - £24)

Aylesbury (actually Fleet Marston) (100 sporting + tea - Sunday/2 ~£22)

Sherington (near Newport Pagnell) (40 sporting with hosts & tea £9.50 compak & skeet - Saturday Afternoons)

Do you know of any more?

Off to Grendon underwood tonight (Wednesday) 6pm if anyone fancies a few rounds of compak http://is.gd/P6kcDW (easy & hard layouts - 4/5 trap versions) 3 rounds for £20 IIRC.

Hi,

You must not be far away from me? I'm based in Claydon - just got my license so got a lot to learn and need to get some practice in.

Have you seen the charity shoot post for Grendon at the end of July?

There's also a team flush event being setup in Northampton as a one off for PW members for a meet and fun?

I believe there's also a shoot at Kingswood near Aylesbury and one at Claydon house (Sometime called Calvert Shoot - though it's not at Calvert?). Both of these run, as far as I know, every other week.

If you stick "Aylesbury" into the search then shoots round there where covered in depth just a few weeks ago, actually in 2 different topics (I did a search for you)

Thanks,

Jon

There are some Bucks shoots listed here : http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/167793-herts-clay-shoot-calendar/

There is also a shoot at Kensworth, near Dunstable. Google for Dunstable gun club.

That thread is mostly southern side of the world I'm afraid. Do you have any details on that Kensworth ground by any chance? DDGC are in Stewkley I believe.

Oh. You mentioned Aylesbury and Fleet Marston - Prestwood isn't too far from there. Anyway, Dunstable Gun Club is just off the A5 near the village of Kensworth but I suspect it's too far south for you.

Yes I think you're right, but it might be nice for a pub-lunch day out so thanks a lot :)

Looks like Prestwood is run by the same guys as Fleet. http://www.asgevents.co.uk/shootinggrounds.htm :good:

DDGC - 50 bird sporting & DTL every other Sunday. Land not very interesting but they make the most of it, and have spent some time improving the stands recently. Can be quite challenging but everything is hittable. Pretty laid back & friendly bunch, it alternates with Drayton Parslow so you see a lot of the same faces at both shoots. Good bacon butties. Won't be at the next shoot but probably the one after, PM me if you fancy going.

There is also a nice little shoot in Castlethorpe, http://www.lodgefarmclayclub.org.uk , have been a few times alhough not recently, again a nice friendly little club worth a visit.

And if you fancy a bit of registered shooting, Sywell isn't too far away (just outside Northampton heading for Kettering) I just turned up there on my own as a novice a few years ago and was well looked after.
