Kes
I made some full height shooting sticks out of 3/4 inch oak, about 6 feet long with a third (tripod) leg attached to the V joint of the main legs. These work, but the 'V' tends to twist the rifle at the slightest pressure affecting accuracy. (one leg in front of the other) I went out last night and, at 150 measured paces, using the sticks, managed 3 out of six within 3/4 inch of the bull. However 2 were within one and a half inches and one was a flyer at 3 ". This with a 6 " circular target with a red centre dot which helped aiming. On a normal small bore rifle target 12" at same distance, not so good at all with 8 within 2" and 2 flyers at up to 4". The wind although strong was directly from me to the target. I'm not happy with this as it would lead to potentially a miss or worse (wounding) maybe with minimum 4 of the total shots. After exercise (long walk)and with these sticks taking a quick aimed shot I am not as confident as I want to be. Is there a tripod type rifle shooting sticks or any other that people would recommend for me to practice a bit with before setting out after Mr C ?
