mrfoxbuster
I am seriously considering starting out on the stalking game, I have done all kinds of shooting for the past 25 years and like most others on here I am very passionate about my chosen sport. what are the main hurdles to overcome on the path to starting out, and is it expensive/does it have to break the bank? Would appreciate any comments/advice Edited June 23, 2011 by mrfoxbuster
SimonT
Do you have land where you have access to deer, as if not then you may want to do a few paid stalks first of all to see if you enjoy it....You probably will. See if you can get out on some cull stalks as if you shoot heads this can get expensive. Another benefit if this is you can use an estate rifle if you dont own a deer calibre rifle. Check out stalking directory to see if there is anyone near you ..... Edited June 23, 2011 by SimonT
John_R
As above, also Sporting Rifle magazine and others have adverts for paid stalking. It is good fun, especially if you find you click with the stalker. Prices vary a lot, usually there is a starting price for the outing (2 or 3 hours), which may or may not include one or more shots/beasts. There might be fees on top for success/ medal heads and then there is the matter of buying the carcass or letting it go to a game dealer.
