Stumpy1
I'm in a little bit of a predicament at the moment. I'm currently shooting with a Beretta 686E, and by my standards, shooting pretty well. My only complaint is that this is not the most aesthetically pleasing of weapons. I have, as far as I can see, two options. 1. Trade my 686E in for a slightly better looking (...and infinately more expensive Beretta), and risk the chance of losing accuracy. (getting used to a new gun all over agin...etc...etc...) 2. Improve the look of my 686E by taking off the factory varnish finish, and applying an oiled one. I have read posts on this and other sites about the various methods employed to attain the perfect finish, but was wondering if any of you had any other pearls of wisdom for me on this one? Have you undertaken this type of work? Have you paid a gunsmith tio do it? Would you recommend it? would you do it for me at a cost?...etc...etc.. Dunkield
I have a 'pinned' post at the top of this section stumpy, with a quick how-to. All I would say is that if you not very confident about doing it yourself I would put it in somewhere to be done. Most gunshops will be able to do this or farm it out to someone who will. My mate had his Miroku done a few years bcak and had 1/4" off the butt at the same time and I think that was about £50-60. It IS time consuming so expect to pay a bit for a decent job!
