eeski
Hi, very foolishly there was a delay in cleaning my gun after shooting in the rain. Now that I have cleaned it I have noticed some dark marks on the barrels, near the ejectors. They are small, dark and smooth to the touch, almost like something has spilled on them. Looking down the barrels looks immaculate. Could this be rust or am I just worrying unduly ? As you can tell I'm new to this game. Whatever your advice is I will certainly be cleaing as soon as I finish shooting now. Should I rub with steel wool or just leave it be ? Any advice welcome Thanks
M.I.A
Where are these marks? is it on the blueing of the barrels or the silver part around the chambers? Edited September 1, 2011 by M.I.A
eeski
Hi - it's at the silver part near the chambers. The blueing all looks fine.
M.I.A
ok, if you get some dry tissue and rub it over it do you get a brownish colour on the tissue?
eeski
Nope, the marks are dark grey almost black. There is no transfer or change when I rub them with a cloth or tissue.
M.I.A
I wouldnt worrie too much, they may have been there before and you just havent noticed. I have a few black spots on mine but it doesnt seem to be rust. Just keep a light film of oil on it and you should be fine

M.I.A
I learnt that lesson a while ago, went out in the rain and didnt bother to clean the gun. came to it a few days later and wiped over it and it turned the rag bronze :( the first thing i do when i get home now is give it a good clean
