Bloke
I am looking at buying one of these venereal - sorry, venerable old guns next week. I know a fair No of you have them, what should I look for when checking the gun out, apart from the obvious (splits, breaks and bits dropping off)? Bloke
Thanks for the advice, I went to see the gun today and I am afraid I weakened! It is a 1963 Multi-choke GP, absolutely immaculate condition inside and out, the only sign of use was a slight fading of the bluing on the trigger guard, and you have to strain to see that! After your tip, I removed the barrel (you should have seen the salesman's face when I went at the gun with a screwdriver ) - not a bit of pitting, barrel like a mirror tube. Ejectors nice and crisp, even the chokes were clean. Not even a scuff mark on the original 'elephant' butt plate. Then he apologised for asking for £125! I couldn't leave it there, could I? Anyway, thanks again, I will be starting another thread, as I want to know how to remove the forend, as even with the screws removed, I cannot shift it. Thanks again, IanG
