Review: AA TX200

Thought I'd share my first thoughts of the Air Arms TX200.

I bought it last week and after vicing the rifle and zero'ing the scope I have put through circa 150 pellets.

After i got over the beauty of the rifle (it does look the business), my first thought was that it was a lot heavier than my co2 rifle and probably heavier than any air rifle i've used. However, as soon as i positioned the rifle into shooting position, the weight distributed across the gun and i realised that despite its weight, this rifle is very well balanced. It actually felt quite light once 'aimed'.

Next I had a nightmare trying to work out the bear trap and how the ratchet worked. Anyway, that sorted i put in a diablo .22 pellet, took a spinner out to 25 yards and took position. BANG, **** me was not expecting that recoil...missed target. Set up again and BANG, recoil made me miss again...damn.

Set up again..this time i relaxed with it (thanks Robblade for advice) and hit the spinner on all next five shots. Moved out to 35 yards and same story...hitting nearly every time.

So, power test. No Chrono as yet so I used so an old 3 mm thick plastic container. From 15 yards my CO2 rifle will shoot through one side (quoted power 10.5lb). Now 20 yards back with the TX I took the shot....pellet went through both sides. Not very accurate test I know, but proved to me that the older TX has still got it. Am buying chrono so will post true figures.

Hunting: took a pigeon out of a tree 25 yards away. No fuss at all. In fact I've never dropped a bird so easily. I have previously learn't that pigeons are very tough birds and don't go down as easy as some may think. TX had no problems at all.

Well, there you are. Those are my first opinions on what is turning out to be a great rifle. Right i'm off to bash some bunnies.

Cheers

Colin
