Dead-Eyed Duck
I think that you will find that Haenel is a german make of air rifle. Name goes back donkeys years - I had one as a kid 40 years ago. They made a vast range, from cheapos to v.good. Don

kwiky
if its just had the spring replaced i would try to have it power tested to make sure it isnt illegally high, the police dont care if you just bought it or whatever. better be safe than sorry Edited May 9, 2006 by kwiky
young airgunner
how would i get ti tested? how would the police find out anyway?
kwiky
if you dont own a chrono (im guessing you dont) then i would take it to your local gunshop and ask if they'll do it for you, most wont charge you but if the do it'll only be £2 max. generally the police would only find out if the took it off you for some reason, ie you were mis-using it, poaching etc if it was over the 12ft/lbs limit it would then be a class 1 firearm and that carries severe penalties, honestly mate, it aint worth it Edited May 9, 2006 by kwiky

dr_nick
Ok I lived in Germany for quite awhile. The limit there for airguns is 7.5 joules here its 15. Its a 6ftlb gun only suitable for target shooting. Now if you buy the official English Import you get a 12ftlb rifle. Oh and if you go here http://babelfish.altavista.com/ and put the url into the translate webpage bit towards the bottom and choose german > english you get the following. Test: Haenel 303-8 super Length: 110cm Caliber: 4,5mm, Diabolo Run: 45.2cm, pulled Weight: approx. 3.4kg Visierung: Diopter with grain admission and ringkorn Line of sight: approx. 81cm Safety device: manual departure safety device Departure: Departure mechanism with adjustable advantages way Energy: approx. 7.5Joule 303-8 the super is a sport version of the normal Haenel 303 which in contrast to 303 in series a dioptervisierung and an assembly rail possesses, which is very short however (6cm). It is by the angular shank well to presents suitably and with the adjustable departure and the Diopter becomes it a precise leisure air rifle. Over the Diopter to adjust needs it however a small trick – one must the screws to the Diopter press and then can one it adjust it also no inscription possesses nevertheless there must one only superior after where one turn before must. For shooting one must only the lever in the back on the run to the rear pull and the run to breaks downward leave, stretches Diabolo into the run engage to let and which most fun shooting probably – makes. The departure weight is very small after my feeling (have no other weapons). For disk shooting at short distances it is however only badly suitable, since the thick edge of the ringkorns the edge of the black surface thus cannot constitute covered and one where now the center is. With a sight to solve however by the short rail would have an adapter would be ago. It is quite durable, is simply in the structure and without special tools detachable. Due to the age it comes also before fitting with springs in the departure breaks which one however problem-free with fate somewhat relating to crafts and the correct spare feather/spring to exchange can. The kolbenfedern in the already older rifles are usually also tired and do not bring to no more the 7.5Joule why I a new feather/spring, seal and a new seal of enricorudi inserted. But one should let the feather/spring of a Buechsenmacher change it a considerable Gewuerge is there....... With me the new feather/spring caused some and does not only notice one at the louder bang. Result: The Haenel 303-8 super is a durable, simple entering he air rifle of which nevertheless sportily and is precise. One should have achieved such can one lucky estimate it there became meanwhile unfortunately very rare.
