southamptonshooter
I'd been working all weekend and at about 13:00 on sunday I decided to give my mate a call and we went to a permission to give some clays ago and try a brush up on techinque. We'd been out for an hour or so when we saw some duck coming onto a pond in the distance at the back of the permission against some woods. We loaded the gun with some lead free shot and made our way over the the pond to have a look. We got just in view of the pond a saw a few ducks getting ready for the night ahead, i sent my mate round the back of the pond and i stayed put with the dog ready to flush the pond (hopefully striaght over the top of him), i gave him 5 minutes to get into place and then started to push up the pond. All went to plan first two up were a pair of mallards which came up nicely presenting him with a nice right to left shot, i then saw my mate rise up to take his shot a heard "bang" slight pause "bang" followed by him jumping up and down very happy, not 100% sure what had happened as ducks flew out of sight behind a tree, once i knew he'd got something i sent my dog milo out for his first retrieve of duck. He came back very quickly and presnted a lovely sized mallard, once i got a bit closer my mate then still hopping about full of joy told me he'd shot a second. I was very impressed as this was only his second time shooting live game. We didn't stop talking about it all the way home. i'm glad o say I now have 4 big breasts in the freezer ready for my three bird roast to accompany the turkey on christmas day , as i've got to feed the whole family of 11 people. Below is my mate with his prize!
