ARGENTINAS´PIGEONS
Hi I´m Ramiro de las Carreras a pigeon and dove hunting outfitter in Argentina. I find could be amazing to exchange experience and information about pigeon hunting in UK and Argentina. Just to start a subject: what is the food preference of pigeons in UK. In San Luis, Argentina were we are located they drive crazy by peanuts, sunflower, sorghum and corn in that order. Also when alfalfa and soy bean plants have 15 days they eat the cotyledons cousing large demages to farmers. We estimate in 25% of the grains harvest the demage farmesrs have here and this is with farmers taking care of their crops. For example sunflower now a days practically nowbody cultivates it´s not profitable because of pigeons demage. Gentlemen I´ll be very glad to receive your information, so we can cultivate this pasion of pigeon hunting. Yours, Ramiro.

ARGENTINAS´PIGEONS
Hi well let me say in Argentina there are not many places with large pigeons concentrations. You can find them everywere but just a few. In some areas they were overshooted. In our area in San Luis province the goverment took a very good strategy to alowd only one outfitter per area. For example we operate an area of more than 200.000 acres. This is cultivated with water pivot irrigation sistems. This provide not only food but also water to pigeon population, now counted by the millions. As the area has a mild weather pigeons nest at least 3 times a year. The area is sorrounded by thouthands of hectares of good roost were is difficult to acces, as is virgin land. This means we hunt pigeons at the pivot circles or near them, as they must come to circles were they have the food available at the area. We hunt both decoying and passing pigeons. Pigeon mouvment begin arround 9 am until midday where they make a stop and remain quiet at the trees. Later arround 14 hs begin the mouvment again until 17 hs in winter or 19 hs in our summer. Ussually a hunter can shoot arroun 500/600 shells how many they get is ither story! JaJa. Wait for your news! hi Ramiro, its good to talk with some one from argentina, you sure seem to get some amazing sport over there, in the uk we also have a wide range of natural and cultivated food sources. im sure you will have lots of people posting you and id like to here more about argentinian pigeon shooting. ill list below some food sourcs. wheat, barly, peas, beans, rape, beet tops, acorns, beachmast, patato, green veg, kale, berrys etc here a few to start you off buddy
