CrapShot
Dave, don't make excuses for what you do as i agree totally. When you are shooting over tall crops as part of "crop protection" and not for sport, and you have to get a big bag to show the farmer then what you should do is let the birds come right in and very low and then shoot them. That way the birds shouldn't go very far before they hit the floor and also should be quite close. I know this is not as sporting or as rewarding as a 40 yard crosser but most of you are just in it for "Crop Protection" and concern for the farmers. I say this not because i am an anti but because i have seen people shoot 40 yard crossers over tall crops which were not coming in to feed but just passing. On the flip side if a bird was genuinely pricked in the killing area and fell too far out in the field then i imagine it wouldn't be long before a bird of prey or fox found it but you can't tell me this happened over 25 times in 1 sitting.
