mry716
A word of warning. These slip on recoil pads are fine as a temporary measure, but although taking them off and putting them back on usually ends up in tearing the rubber sleeve after a while, it is still advisable. If you leave them on all the time the stock tends to sweat and after 6 months or so will cause crazing on a varnish finish with staining in the craze lines or if an oiled finish will often bring out the natural walnut stain to the surface - which is a purple colour - and stain the wood under the sleeve quite severely. Unfortunately it will often not even sand out fully. If you have ever sanded new walnut you will know how difficult the stain is to get off your hands. The only thing that has any immediate effect is a strong bleach which can be wiped onto the stock staining and then washed off. Repeat until the colour is less noticeable and hopefully suitable for refinishing
