mr salt
i like bsa's but i hate to say it the air arms 400 or 410 is far better. only buy the ultra if your going to shot from a car /truck. the hornet is good but firing it can be a bit odd with the thing you have to press at the front, micro cocking lever. you can pick up a new single shot scorpian for £350-75ish. So how much is the Hornet? You also need to budget on filling the gun up (charging it) also a silencer, and scope. The hornet can hold a tight group and is more than up to hunting. drut
Can't comment on the value but I don't think spares should be a problem. Apart from BSA you could try Chambers http://www.gunspares.co.uk/shopdisplayproducts.asp?page=5&id=24294&Search= or Knibbs http://www.airgunspares.com/store/category/64/360/BSA/Hornet-Single-Shot/
