Im most of the way through re-finishing the stock of my Beretta 682.

spent loads of time rubbing back and got 99% of all ware and tare out of the wood work. am at the stage where I want to finish off.

I have been using Tru oil as the stock is a very nice piece of wood but cant seem to get that really even finnish. I keep getting streak marks or runs.

have tried using cloth to apply and also tried applying with the finger. Can any one help?

I've just done my 686 onyx and I'm only 70% happy with it. The forend has come out a lot lighter even tho they looked the same in their naked form.

Maybe we both should have bit the bullet and sent them to straightshooter1

I've used tru oil on my silver pig 1, as I wasn't happy with the factory finish which was rather sparse! I found a few streaks at first, but repeated application, with enough time bewteen applications for the prior coat to dry / be absorbed (usually overnight) soon sorted that out. I use a normal household duster cloth to apply, just pressing it against the top of the bottle and tipping it up and back again, nothing as much to create runs. I have put on about 8 coats so far and the wood has darkened nicely and I'm much happier with it. Yours may take more due to it being stripped right down?
