I'm in the process of looking for a shooting club to join (got a couple of options) to shoot PSG, gallery rifle and maybe some longer range target shooting.

I have a good idea what section 1 shotgun I want and I quite fancy a 1866 lever action rifle for gallery rifle.

What caliber should I be looking for. I think the originals were a .45 but the Italian copys come in .38 .44 and .45. would it make much difference on a 50m range and does the ammo cost vary much.
