Rozzwell
Had a very good day decoying yesterday with my old man( a fellow PW member). We set up on a small field of rape where we'd been watching them feed for a few days, we started with two rotary machines and about half a dozen decoys either side leaving a gap of about 20yards for the pigeons to land in the middle, the day started slow but soon picked up with some excellent sport. We finished the day with 38 woodies. Today we went and set up on a field of Spring Barley drillings, we used 20 real birds from yesterdays shootin for decoys and also two rotary peckers, the day started slow again with a few birds decoying but a few did'nt want to commit their selves to the decoy pattern so we decided to try a single pigeon on a bouncer which we put out about 60 yards behind our decoys hoping to pull a few more and give the birds more confidence to come in, this did seem to work with most pigeons seeing the bouncer and the white wing bars of the decoy and coming in alot more confidently, we finished the afternoon with a steady bag of 20 woodies, all in all a coiple of good days sport. Rozzwell
you need to learn the ways of a gamekeeper before you learn how to decoy like a pro pal,
richg
I too shot some rape yesterday, set up at 9.30 birds came steady till about 12.30 then went dead, packed up at 2pm with 54 in the bag. went out today when the rain stopped, set up on some chopped maize, shot my first bird at 11.45 and packed up at 4pm with 53 in the bag. so 107 for two days. Well Pleased.
