12borejimbo Posted March 26, 2012 Report Share Posted March 26, 2012 I have 2 labrador dogs, Ruben and Rolo, Ruben is my gundog, a good dog, I pick up with him on my estate, and he truly adores me, very good at the recall on his own or with me. Rolo as a nice old boy, very placid, but easily exciteable. The problem I have is when I take them for a walk, if they are both off the lead, they run off and dont return until the next day or if I go out and find them. I can scream and shout all I want but they both go deaf and peg it. So for a few years I have always walked them with one off the lead and one on the lead, when I get halfway through the walk, I swap them over so they both have a runabout. I live in the country, I open my front door and there is a field, fields 360 around my house, with a river 30 yards from my yard. Couldnt ask for better, I want the boys to behave off the lead togetgher and just run about, take them for walks and not run off, but how can I get them to do this? A mate said get some high strain fishing line and tie it to the collar, when they are running away pull it and call their names a few times The boys are going to be 7 this year.
