Hi i have a little bit to say when it come to dog's.Im a big beliver in dog hunting the right way.But a few years back i had a good mate who just brought a wippet x for hunting rabbit's.And had no control or disapline over the dog witch was a shame as it was a very cleaver looking dog.He only had it for hunting he use to beat it when it wwoulden't jump fences or do what he use to say.It got to me bad when i had seen this with my own eye's.I said to him thats no way to train a dog it's the wrong way.Your going to make it scared of you.He reliped i don't care as long as it does what is suppost to do.So i rang up the rspca on him and told them what was going on.A few weeks later he called me and said my dog has gone i said what do yoi mean gone.He said the rspca has took him.i have a dog witch i train to hunt with me and its also a family dog.All dogs need love and care.My dog work and gets fussed over every day by my kids. There has been times iv felt like going mad but i no it wont solve anything.Allways remember a dog is never mad with you no matter how you treat it.My dog is my best mate and always will be.always think before you make mistakes with dogs.Just make sure you have control and rules.

Sadly this happens far too often, most people don't know anything about dogs.

Farmers can be the worst in my opinion, with sheepdogs. They were 'taught' by their dad, who was 'taught' by their dad who was 'taught' by their dad, who didn't know which end of the dog has the tail. They refuse to listen to anybody because they think they know it all and have been doing it this way for 40 years, they won't admit to not knowing something and if it doesn't do it right then 'it'll learn' or it's a 'bad 'un'.

What makes it worse still is collies tend to be so eager to please they get very upset when they do something wrong and upset their owner, yet they don't know what they've done wrong because they've never been trained what to do.

Not all farmers are like this of course, there are many out there who will apply brain cells to the job and either know what to do or ask, but a large percentage of them are just plain ignorant.

Fully agree with above said there is no reason a dog should be hurt or scared of its owner. I have had dogs all my life as a kid at home but when I got my own dog in my house I decided to take my dogs to training classes so it can socialise but more importantly so i can learn how to train a dog properly from people who know more than me. One of the main things i learnt was a DOG DOES NOTHING WRONG IT JUST DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT. When you break it down a dog is a clever but simple animal, all it wants to do is please its owner so when it does something different just show you are not pleased with it and when it does what you want praise him and show them how happy you are they done it.

One of my friends as a child used to always have police rejects, one of the dogs they got was a big big german shepherd which was being trained to take people down and attack on command. This dog just refused to do it and hurt people, they punched it kicked it broke its nose in two places and fractured about 4 ribs in the process of getting it to dislike humans and attack. But it just refused to, they took it in and was the most caring dog they could ever of asked for. This was 40 years ago or so.

On the few occasions i have told my collie off he hates it soo much, if you do all he does is come up to you and try to make as much contact with you as possible to get some reassurance.
