Jesse James
Hi All. I'm looking for some help please, as my books and photo ID don't really help me to I.D. these Mushrooms.... these were found on "St Georges day" and are still there now, these were not white when first noted and I thought of course they would be them.... but inspection of them seem to not show correctly and as you know its wise not to pick or let alone eat any your not 100% sure and these do not check against my books and photos. these are found in a large cluster in wet land area next to nettles and located next to them were three very large horse mushrooms and next to large dead tree. http://s1078.photobucket.com/albums/w481/jessejamesJnr/ any help please ... Thank you. lee
UKPoacher
They look like St. George's Mushrooms to me mate. The St. George's Mushroom has a light smell resembling freshly milled flour. The other similar ones you find at this time of year that are not edible have brown gills. Try and cut them rather than uproot them as they can grow back. Jesse James
Clive. Thank you very much for taking the time to view and letting me know... I normally do "only ever Cut them" but wanted to check the root, bulb at the end of the stalk as the book I use for double reference talks about this too. The gills do not bruise when cut , flesh does not bruise when cut. I totally agree about cutting them. Thank you again. Lee
