Squizzer 33 and a near collision with a bager!

Phoned up the head gardener of my main permission last night to ask if it was ok to have a mooch in the morning, he was happy for me to go but asked me to try and get a squirrel that was in the main part of the garden, I said ok but thought that there was not much chance of shooting a particular tree rat.

I set off at 5am and had a walk around the boundaries and baited up my stations, I had two shots at unsuspecting pigeons but it seems at that time of the morning I cannot shoot straight or my ranging of distances in trees ( any tips would be appreciated!) needs some work coz I missed them both completely!A bit peeved I headed on into the main garden and took my position under a tree next to the gate where the squirrel had been seen. Half an hour passed and I hadnt seen much movement then I heard a noise like an asthmatic making prank phone calls, I slowly turned to look down the path to see a HUGE badger running right at me, I tucked in behind the tree and he steamed past me no more the 2 foot away, amazing! I settled back down and five minutes later I could hear the tell tale noises of a squirrel hopping through the bushes, I caught sight of him about 50 yards away comming towards me, I readied the hw100, when he got to the gate 30 yards away, he paused for a second too long and he tumbled to the ground with a crossman in his noggin! Chuffed that I had achieved what the gardener had asked of me and my stomach shouting at me for breakfast I headed home, on the way I bumped into the gamekeeper and got talking and now I have a load more weekday beating for myself and my dog when the season starts, double result!!
