I went out for a walk around this morning and to put out monkey nuts for the squirrels, I decided to take my dog "Ki" with me, I dont usually bother when using the hw100 but she gave me one of those looks!.

We were in the wood by 5.30 and had spotted our first squirrel by 5.45 sat eating the nuts I had put out last night, we spooked it but I thought it would be back so we sat down. Sure enough after 15 minutes Ki spotted it about 40yds away from the table making its way back towards us, I readied the gun and when it hopped up onto the table it was lights out for squirrel 36. I sent Ki out and she retrieved it to hand, I was so shocked as she has never done this with fresh shot game, she is a beating dog! After the dog breaking cover I thought anything else that had been about would have cleared off so made the decision to move to the next bait station, I set up and sat back against a tree to wait. It didnt take long before I could see a squizzer taking a drink from a barrel next to the table so I mounted the gun and when it presented itself on the table a quick squeeze of the trigger and number 37 was dead. Again I sent the dog out and again she placed it in my hand. Chuffed and slightly confused, as ive never trained the dog on squirrels, I headed for home and a coffee.
