Reece
Grey squirrels will eat anything if they're hungry, which they are during spring and early summer, as there is little other food about. If they find a food source they will come back to it until it is exhausted. If they find a nest they return until it is empty. So it is highly likely that the squirrel is to blame for your egg losses. Remove grey squirrels from a wood, and wild bird numbers can rise by 20% or more according to a Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust, depending on the species. Goes to show how many eggs they will take. Either trap or shoot the squirrel. When you do, be sure to add your kills to the "How many squirrels are killed by PW members in 2012" thread. It's a pigeon watch grey squirrel kill count. Edited June 17, 2012 by Reece
garden gun
Remember that if the squizzer is trapped it cannot be released. Must be killed "humanely" - shooting is humane.
