-Mongrel- Posted August 27, 2012 Report Share Posted August 27, 2012 Wasn't critiscising you for keeping two dogs for mutual company, I did that myself with good results, only one is a gundog, the other just a pet. It was the 'And dont get a dog from a rescue center.in my opinion they should all be closed and the animals should be put down and not rehomed.' that I can't agree with, but maybe I'll start a new thread to discuss that rather than derail this one. WGD Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Posted August 28, 2012 My pups come with me to work most days until about 6 months of age, most of the day is spent in the back of the truck but it allows me to take them out for play time 10 minutes 3 or 4 times during the day. They are also in the house until around that age (depending on the time of year) to get them house trained and socialised. From 6 months on they are in the kennel while I am at work, anything from 8 to 12 hours a day. My wife normally lets them out at lunchtime if I am away all day to let them do the toilet and therefore keep the kennel clean, but that's personal preference having house trained them as pups. I have more than one dog so they have each other for company but I have in the past had only one dog in the kennel with no ill effects following the early socialising.
