markyboy
Right guys, managed 2 ponds this season one of which is perfect, the other on the other hand I have my doubts, so wonder what you think, the pond I'm talking about use to be a great pond but hasn't been shot for near 8 years and it sits around 35 yards into a wood, with the back end of the pond has tall firs and front end has silver birch that have grown rather high, I've thinned out all around the pond all over hanging trees, cleared the island to give all possible chance of a shot , my only concern being on a night flight ducks coming in on the darkening is this going to be a waste of time with trees as a back drop it's going to be hard to see anything , The pond is about 50 yards in length and 30 yards wide with clear sky above it, it will be fed for night flighting but not sure of it's going to work Any thoughs on this would be great Mark
malantone
YOUR POND SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO OURS, EXCEPT THAT THE TREES HAVE BEEN TAKEN OUT LEAVING THIRTY YARDS CLEAR ALL ROUND BEFORE THE TREE LINE ( MATURE LARCH AND SPRUCE, ) WHICH IS HIGH, WE HAVE NO PROBLEM SEEING DUCKS AND SHOOT IT EVERY TWO TO THREE WEEKS IN THE SEASON, Edited July 17, 2012 by malantone
