king ratcatcher
just seen this on the news .... A young father has been shot dead in the street after trying to defend his family from a gang of youths who are believed to have stabbed him in the neck just months earlier. Peter Woodhams, 22, was shot outside his home in Canning Town, London. He staggered to his doorstep where he died in front of his three-year-old son. A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in relation to the murder. His fiancée, 23-year-old Jane Bowden said the gang had stabbed him in the neck seven months earlier. Their names and addresses were given to police but no one was arrested and police say they are now carrying out a full review of their response to the incident. Only moments before the shooting, Mr Woodhams returned home after an altercation with a group of youths outside some shops near his house. He headed out again and was shot in Leslie Road, just yards from his home in Tallis Close. It happened at around 7pm on Monday night. Miss Bowden said: "Peter came in and said something about some trouble outside. He ran back out and then I heard two or three bangs. "I went out still holding Sam (their three year-old son) and saw someone run off. "Peter turned to me and walked a few steps. I could see blood on his clothes. Then he just collapsed into some bushes and I started screaming. "He managed to drag himself up and walk over to the front door and then fell on his front." Miss Bowden said the youths had mounted a campaign of intimidation since the attack and that her fiancé had been left "traumatised". Detective Chief Inspector Ian Stevenson, who is leading the investigation, said: "Early indications suggest that the victim may have been involved in an incident with a number of youths near shops at Freemasons Road shortly before his death. "Following this incident the victim dropped his vehicle off at his nearby home, he went inside the premises and shortly left again, but this time on foot. He was subsequently shot in Leslie Road. "I'm appealing for anyone who saw the victim or his vehicle near the shops to contact the Incident Room. I'm also particularly keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the shooting, or sightings of suspects running away." What is this world comming too
