pavman
Many of us are concerned at land loss for shooting as farmers opt for higher payment from DEFRA, a common misconception appears to be that disturbance from shooting renders the claim invalid, which apparently is not so, copy of my e mail contact with a sporting agent FYI hi, xxx guess your services are much in demand as I understand many farmers are opting for the new higher land payment, and thus not allowing wildfowling to continue on their marshes due to disturbance from shooting taking the land out of the scheme. regards pavman Dear pavman Usually there is no need for wildfowling to stop under HK9 and HK10 options (problems usually arise from EN or DEFRA opportunism!). We have resolved these problems in each case we have been involved but it is better to be involved at the beginning rather than trying to claw back a situation once lost regards XXX comment below when discussed with a high ranking friend in shooting world Dear pavman I have been speaking to XXX at BASC about this. There has so far been one test case in Devon, where EN have backed down and accepted that shooting is an acceptable part of land management. XXX is endeavouring to ensure that the decision which has been made locally is taken on board at national level, however, all is up in the air at the moment with the reorganisation of EN. Hope this helps some of you, pavman
