borich
There is a second hand Mossberg 410 gauge 3 SHOT PUMP Pump Action second hand Shotgun (Silenced) (Ambidextrous), £395. I am in need of something for bunnies on my brother in law farm and this seems good and from the reviews is fairy quiet. Would this be a wise investment for dealing with bunnies? Also what's the effective range for this gun?
pigeon pete
if you have a FAC go for a .22lr ,cheaper and quieter ,410 shells are well priced ,if not a good pre charged air rifle ,and you have to take into considerations the noise you will make racking back the slide on the pump ? here is a link for 410s http://www.fourten.org.uk/article1.html
borich
I will get a FAC but i'm really interested in these hush guns as it is something different
pigeon pete
dont forget you have to use subsonic ammo in them so your going to lose a bit of velocity
bedwards1966
While nothing beats a .22lr on most rabbits, a .410 certainly has it's uses - I find it good on rabbits, even though I've a couple of .410's. Moderated they are meant to be quiet, though I've not heard one. You don't have to use subsonic cartridges, you will get significant sound reduction with the moderator whatever carts you use, though obviously best results will be achieved by using the subsonic cartridges. Expect the range to be about 30 yards, the patterns can start to fail after that and you have a very small shot pattern so accuracy is critical. borich
Just looking online and for 400 you can get a Mossberg 12 gauge Hush Power Pump Action. What sort of distance increase would that give for the bunnies

borich
Oh cool. I'm just getting into it and love it. Best thing is with bunnies is slow cooking them shame not to waste them. Just a shame the bunnies I will be shooting are 300 miles away
dan17
i have heard that 2.5 inch catridges are the best through a hushpower and pattern better than 3 inch for the most effective sound reduction it is best to stand in an open field as in woodland the sound can echo in the trees :good:
bedwards1966
I'd say about 40 yards on rabbits with a 12 bore. Obviously even moderated they then make a lot of noise, you can find a 12 bore empties the area your shooting in for a long time.

Matt Gould
whats the range of the 20g? 35 - 40 yards like people have said all hushpowers have a pretty tight choke, you wont regret buying the 20g version,
