Claydon
Any ideas on a suitable pattern for when the wind is straight in your face? I have looked through John Bateley's book and all the patterns are with the wind from behind, left, right or off set but not with the wind comming directly at you. Logically following the horseshoe theme it should be just that with the open end to the hide about 20/25 yds with the top of the shoe 40yds ish, this would mean birds would flight in over the top of the hide, does that make sense. the spot i want to shoot is restricted by footpaths or i would go to the other side of the hedge line with the wind behind, but it is a great flight line i 've been watching for a while and looks promising to decoy some birds in. Cant risk bagging a rambler my game bags not big enough and i dont have any bobble hat decoys!!! Any thoughts?? Claydon
RAMMER BURT
you could try doing a figger eight pattern, have shot with the wind in my face quite a bit and if your not carful the pigeons will set down to far out the figger eight pattern gives them a good choice were to land
Claydon
Hi RB How does the figure 8 work?? ie layout in relation to hide?
RAMMER BURT
ITS A BIT LIKE A SET OF BIKE WHEELS ONE WHEEL LEFT ONE WHEEL RIGHT AND THE HIDE IN THE MIDDLE if they shy off try making a hole in the middle, thats then called the killing spot witch makes the pigeons at range if you see what i mean

RAMMER BURT
yes that the idear, you have to move the decoys around if pigeons start to flear ok because they need a space to land in or they get all humpy and will land down wind from your pattern its not that your patern is wrong its just they need to be with thire mates hope this helps
