Amazed
Hi all, our main tv a Samsung plasma tv has gone on the fritz the screen has gone blank but sound is still present. It's only 2 years old. I have only had LCD TVs and have no knowledge of plasmas. Are they readily reparable or is it a bin job not really what we need this close to Christmas and with a baby due in January Thanks all Karl. HDAV
unless the glass has gone my guess is repairable at 2 years old contact samsung may well be warranty dig out proof of purchase samsung customer service are pretty good and there are plenty of repair agents out there its probably a board that needs replacing but without seeing it tricky to diagnose! bsaben
Its not good news unless you paid for extended warranty, plasmas are a nightmare to fault find on and its impossible to say for sure but on plasmas it is usually the screen drivers which fail due to high demand on them, which usually cost more than the tv to replace. We had a panny in not long ago and they quoted £700 for drivers which are fixed to the screen for some stupid reason. The tv is only worth £500 when new. Your best bet is to try them direct as they won't release tech drawings.
HDAV
Forget extended warranties................. they are covered by EU legislation to last a reasonable time and reasonable repair cost......and samsung are pretty good.
