long shot i know but does anyone know where i can get metacam or rimadyl with out a perscription.used the last of it today .

i dont need or want to see a vet at this stage as i know what the problem is dog she as both rear legs plated because of cruiate breakdown and as twisted her ligament/ miniscus yesterday , so it would be back to the specialist already cost £8000+ ( which i paid a big chunk of ) , insurance no longer covers her , shes on rest and tramadol , but would prefer metacam. if after rest she will be going back to one of the top ortho vets in the country

if i took her to a normal vet ( mines retired ) they would want to xray etc and refer anyway

so if anyone can help , would be great ful.

also if you have any to spare or sell let me know , yes i have plenty of experince with both these drugs and know the dosages

cheers

1. What you are asking is obviously illegal. These drugs are controlled for a reason.

2. Where are you getting the Tramadol?

3. If you have a decent relationship with your vet then there is no reason that they cannot/will not prescribe the Metacam without doing a lot of tests. Everyday I end up having discussions with owners about cost; what I'd like to do in an ideal world and how far we can compromise. There should be no problem if the dog is under the care of your vet prescribing tramadol then if you have been seen lately they may even be happy just putting some out for you.

These things are DRUGS. They are controlled for a reason. Possession without authority (ie on prescription) is a DRUGS OFFENCE.

Sounds to me like you have trust issues with your vet, or are one of those people who think they know best.

jesus no need to get so stressed apache .just trying to look after my dog .i have owned dogs for 33 years now since i was 14 yrs old that must count for something in experience terms.

you must know working dogs have aches, pains and strains all the time fact!!

my vet was brilliant but as now retired . the ortho vet i,ve been seeing for the last 2 years as also been fantastic.he did tell me if i worked this dog there was a good chance she may have her off days , and if she did rest her up first and dont panic and bring her back if you need to ( his words ).

currently he is not available over the xmas period other wise i would of arranged a perscription via him. there will be someone on reception on monday i can ask .

apart from that i dont think she needs to see a vet at the mo , so yes i do know my own dog .

ps.the tramadol is whats left of her meds
