lou13
Hi! went out at about 3 today to catch some pigeons coming into roost with my friend. It was very windy as we set off and snowing heavily! We caught sight of some pigeons curling high above one of the woods, too far out of range though! We walked around the fields until we got to the wood we were going to be shooting. My friend walked out 30 yds into the field ahead of me before i clapped my hands getting some pigeons to fly out over him. Quite a few flew out but he missed them all! Too be fair they were very tricky birds! We eventually settled down into the boundary of the wood waiting to step out on any birds coming in. After about 6 minutes 3 pigeons came flying in. I raised my gun and shot a left and a right! 10 mins later a bird came in and my friend took the shot. BANG! the pigeon flopped in flight, it was hard hit, however it carried on and could not be found It was getting dark now and we gave it 20 mins before another pigeon headed our way, my mate took the shot again and hit it hard with a follow up shot on the ground it still got up with a 30g 5 shot in it and flapped its way into the wood later to be picked. So overall not a bad couple of hours for the conditions, 4 pigeons! thanks, lou13
