Grey tide...

The grey tide has returned; young grey squirrels are flooding back into the surrounding woods. As sap rises the greys will strip bark & kill saplings. As the birds nest, the greys will raid the eggs then later take the unfledged (swallows protect their nests by mobbing the greys driving them off). Last week’s robbing of eggs from the laying boxes of my chicken house spurned me into action; out of the gun cabinet comes the old Belgium .410 and two more greys are added to the PigeonWatch vermin tally. Thought I’d leave one of the greys in a spot I use to squeak foxes, setup the trail cam and see what’s about:

I'd do it again and eliminate a possible problem for the sheep if they are due to lamb !

Interesting time to come calling !!

That's my thinking - get the fox/foxes used to feeding at the same spot. These ladies haven't been tupped, so there's no risk to lambs.
