Mr Majyk
ok the title is a bit misleading, it's soon to be my sako once ive saved up some shiny pennys to buy it of a fellow club member. Its a Sako .223 S491 she seems like a nice rifle, i managed a inch and a half group of the bipod at 100yd with factory ammo so i should be able to tighten that up with home loads and a full rested rifle to see what she can really do when ive paid for her (Any donations welcome ) its got a floor plate mag at the moment which is ok but id quite like to convert it to a box mag out of personal preference and the fact that the rifle and be unloaded and made safe in a click of a finger by opening the bolt and removing the mag. does anyone know anywhere that supplies a "kit" or know of a kit which will do the trick? Its also got a very crisp single stage trigger which is nice but id like a two stage trigger as i will be using this for foxing and the occasional competition. anyone know where i can purchase one? i do like customising my rifles, ive already taken her measurements to build a new stock so by the time im done itll be a very different rifle
fieldwanderer
I'm currently building a sako based rifle (but it's a 75). I've read somewhere along the way that an anschutz trigger can be fitted, being a club shooter I'm sure you can understand why that's a bonus. I've decided to leave mine as standard to start with though and see what I think after a while. Actually, I see you're already shooting with an anschutz - so may well be worth looking into. I've no idea about the magazine, I'm sure a quick "google" will help, though I expect most of what you find to be from the states.
Traztaz
The Bix and Andy triggers are very good
Mr Majyk
thanks very much Traztaz, i looked up the bix'n andy triggers and they look like they'll do the job! as long as the adjustable length of pull is lighter than the "bite" of the sear release thatll do the job. i have the same style on my Anschutz 1451 and ive always liked it. i feel having that light long pull before the the bite of the sears is safer when out in the field. i'll have to e-mail them and ask a few questions before i invest in what is an expensive, but hopefully worth it, piece of kit. as for the detachable magazine ive had a look around and im pretty sure i can adapt another kit to fit the sako, i'll just have to wait till i get my hands on here to take measurements and see what needs to be done. im quite good with my hands, as theyre how i make my living, so im fairly confident i can do it! wish me luck!
