varmintexpress
I own a field next to my house surrounded by trees about 6 acres. 30 acres to the south and 6 acres to the north both of which I do not own. main road running parallel to the lot about 100 yards to the right. 2 problems, there is a footpath through my field ! and there are 4 neighbours within 130 yards on each side! the frustration is that there are 2 or three well used flight lines over the field almost following the footpath where lots of pigeons seem to be using morning and evening I would say over a hundred pigeons! is it even worth asking the land owners for permission to land my shot on there land to the south and checking with fac officer? 12g would be my second choice after modded .
beesley121
Just choose your shots carefully, shoot in the direction that wouldn't cause any pellets to leave your boundary. As for the footpath, don't worry about it too much. Just keep yer eyes and ears open and if you see anyone on the footpath, stop shooting and allow them to pass and wait till they are out of range Ps it might be worth putting a couple of signs up on the footpath advising footpaths users that you are carrying out lawful vermin control and loud bangs may be heard

NickB65
You could always try and air rifle - slightly different technique in that they are best on the ground shut still very effective. I shoot regularly around farm buildings and fields that are backed onto by houses and as long as you start shooting after say 8am and stop around 7pm then they cannot complain too much - just make sure your shot and dead birds do not land in their yards. As for the other land owners if you know who they are then pop over and see them and let them know what you are doing - saves them calling the police and yes I would let the police know as well esp given the close proximity of the houses. Let us know how you get on. Nick (on holiday in Holland and wishing he had brought his 12g)
