FAC Shotgun? why ?

The governments thinking was they only wanted you to kill a maximum of 3 people before someone jumped on you and stopped you.

Personally, I think that they probably got it wrong and intended to limit the capacity to two rounds, rather than three but drafted it incorrectly. I'm sure the thinking went along the lines of "We need to restrict everything which is used by the great unwashed but make sure that the great and the good (with their expensive Purdey's and Holland's) aren't inconvenienced in the slightest". So, having little knowledge of firearms it was assumed that magazine capacity was the same as overall capacity.

People may think that a somewhat cynical attitude but let's not forget the case of old Douglas Hogg (who was one of the ministers charged with steering the Bill through Parliament), who slid in the estate rifle clause so that he could continue his previously illegal pastime of shooting deer on a chums estate without holding an FAC.

Much the same thinking that was behind the handgun legislation, pointless as it has served no purpose, the only people with handguns now are criminals.

I don't doubt there are a fair few fac shotguns out there without certs.

There must be loads. Someone estimated the numbers a while back and it must be huge. They have an idea of about how many there were likely to be on SGC's and they know how many were handed in or converted to section 2. There was a large hole in the figures, I seem to recall. I'm sure that Tony Martin used an off-ticket pump or semi to shoot the career criminal scumbags that he got sent down for.

if you have fac ticket its just £25 to add on multishot auto if you want a seperate sgl 3 shot auto its £50 wheres the logic?

It's only a tenner for a co-terminous SGC.
