strangford wildfowler
In my opinion I would never put one onto my lab Blaze for one he's a big **** dog and secondary I would feared o f an under water snag getting caught onto the coat, it's in my opinion sending a dog into heavy cover with a collar on, it my do more damage than good, but as I stated this is my opinion and it could happen, because it happen to my mates lab it's collar got caught on a tree branch that was hidden under the water during the summer and it was a gonner if it wasn't for my mate going in for a dip and getting her undone. Rant over

Rant over Although I agree on collars, I also feel many a dog is more at risk from hypothermia. Proper labs etc don't really need them but say a spaniel that lives indoors on a winter fowling trip, wet and exposed to strong chilling winds for long periods after exertion will often become hypothermic and die. Many fowlers know of this happening, I don't know of a dog killed by its jacket but admit the possibility is there, though less than with a collar

M ROBSON
I've went through loads of dog jackets for my Labs. The Yankee stuff is the best I've had, Avery in particular is very good. I use them 100 mornings per season and their very tough. When your out 6 days a week they are a must, it's amazing how many small nicks and cuts appear in them that would have otherwise been in the dog. The rip-stop armour flex covering and side floatation foam is well worth the extra cost. Had one last season from a company called "western rivers" (not rivers west!) and it was pure ****!!!
