Nice little session to blow those cobwebs away that as the vermin season gets underway. The little CZ hornet put in a cracking show at 200yards knocking 4 shots into 1.5" (with simply thrown powder loads and brass on its eighth time through the gun)and then the 5th and final shot took it up to 2.35". Still not bad because even prone I just couldn't put any weight onto my bad left shoulder and I was dealing with some one MOA of wind ie approx 2" of drift. So what if the .243 win printed 0.9" at the same range these little guns are just pure fun. Using hi viz post it notes as targets (no prior sighter taken the hornet took 2 moa elevation and 1 moa of wind estimated from mirage angle and placed the group almost smack on centre) I can confirm that no fox could survive either gun being levelled at them. I actually recovered a few expanded hornet bullets from the wet earth and can confirm full expansion and some staggering penetration at least 8-9" after passing through 9mm best ply, at a guess about 50% retained weight. The 87 grn HPBT I was using actually shoots around 1/2" high at said range so calling that was pretty easy just aiming at the bottom right corner of the 2" square (bigger guns do have their uses) wasn't about to dig any of them up though it looked like land mines were exploding in the backstop as turf flew up, stuck my whole forearm into a crater and thought better of it.
