NickB65
I was out Saturday zeroing the rifle and spotted a few pigeons sitting on the wheat. Watching them they just sat there preening and an hour later flew off to a rape field three fields away. Had a mooch over where they were and the wheat was untouched just a little trampled. Following day I set-up close to where they were and as I arrived several hundred pigeons flew up from the rape and flew off so I adjusted the location so I could both areas. And I waited....... and waited....... Now our rape field is very patchy; flea beetle and Partridge has killed off most and what is left is small and very behind so most pigeons or hitting the neighbours fields and coming to our to sit and rest. I spent two and a half hours and three flew into the pattern and I missed all three - easy shots as well........ The last hour I spent re-zeroing the rifle and 150 rounds later I was getting some nice groups at 75m. I found some beetroot from last year which I put on the target board and I must admit they make a lovely mess when hit.... a real satisfying explosion of red :-) Now the rifle is set-up I might have to try some dusk shooting of rabbits as the freezer is empty of game a first for a long time......
