Alpha Mule
So: phone cal from owner "Just let the chickens out 10 minutes ago and a little ginger B has had one already!" I head round sharpish, but as I'm about 15 miles away, I'm sure the B is nowhere to be seen, but,,,,,, I also decide that I fancy trying for my first game/vermin with the over under instead of the 22-250. I load 1 no6 in the top barrel (rabbit rich environment) and 1 BB in the bottom for Charlie and set the selector for top first. Corvids are also not welcome on this land. As I have checked Charlie has evaporated and the bunnies have also made themselves scarce, the tree full of crows that are sitting watching me become enemy No 1 and I select one lucky fella. Now the selector must have been nudged over from top first to bottom first. Crow at ~15 yards with 12 gauge BB is 'a bit messy' - so no piccies today (smashed wings and body with a topless cranium would be somewhat tasteless). I know dead is dead, and I've read all the 'overkill' posts elsewhere, but this was somewhat 'impressive'. Carlie is still on the loose, but his days are marked. Also, the hen must have put up a decent fight as shortly after the crow got it, she staggered round the corner, battered, missing a load of feathers, but still waddling under her own power. owner's daughter will be happy as she was her 'pet'.
