First post I hope you enjoy it.

Today I had a walk out on the fell to see if we could get a few rabbits.

We were only out for a quick hour or so and had a fantastic morning.

Walking along the back ridge of the fell high up and there was a nice adult rabbit sitting out in the open at around 30 yards away, up came the gun and first barrel took the sitter down.

Izzi was working well flushing a rabbit out in to the open but she was to close to the rabbit for a clear and safe shoot so I let the rabbit run with little izzi hot on its tails how ever the rabbit had the legs on her and disappeared into the drystone wall at the brow of the hill, by the time I got up there the bunny had disappeared out the other side and away into the freshly burnt heather on the other side some where.

We proceeded to follow the little burn that runs through the 48 acre field which always holds a couple and today was no different, about 50 yards down the burn izzi knocked another bunny up and along the burn it ran, I raised the gun bang just catching it's back end the rabbit was struggling to get back to its warren with izzi hot on its tail but the rabbit beat her to its under ground home. This was a tiny set and I could nearly get my arm right in but couldn't work out which way the rabbit had gone so I opened up the entrance enough for izzi to get in. off she went in search of the rabbit down the warren finding it and dragging the shot rabbit out to me which was dispatch quickly.

I Hate the thought of them getting to ground and passing in pain hours later.

The farmer arrive in the field I was in and we had a bit of a chin wag putting the world to rights, as you do. While we were chatting izzi piled into the scrub flat out and soon after followed the squealing of a caught rabbit the largest and fattest off the day, this couldn't have happened at a better time as the farmer was well pleased to see how the dog using her nose found, caught and brought back the rabbit.

another one dispatch, cleaned and skinned then passed to the farmer for his tea, smiles all around, securing his promise of as long as he has the farm I will always have permissions on itπŸ‘ we decided to start heading home and on walking along the field another bunny flushed this time taking both barrels to stop it, izzi got there but this time she decided she wanted to chew this one rather than return it so I had the small walk to collect the rabbit. All in all a great morning out, izzi is well at home now with the gun and working well with it. She is progressing leaps and bounds every day we go out πŸ‘πŸΎπŸΆ
