I was watching two customers of a local pigeon guide shooting over a rotary in a field of barley yesterday.

They were under a flight line and very few birds were taking an interest. Those that did were accounted for efficiently but most of their shooting was at birds 80 yards up. I counted 35 shots for not one bird in just under half an hour. They were there all day. Must have got through some amount of cartridges!

By the sounds of it the birds could see them and they could have done with some 5s in at 80yds high.

what I dont understand is the fact that if the birds were crossing lft to right or vice versa at 80 yd you wouldn't dream of shooting at them, so why do people think that at 80 yd high theyre guna hit and kill them! No chance .
