Underdog
When I get mis-fire with a 22 and it has been shooting ammo fine but then a switch in ammo suddenly has mis-fires I check the pin travel! I just switched ammo today and got mis-fires, the rim of the ammo on inspection looks thin! Stripping the BRNO bolt allowed me to see the pin travel after checking for crud was just under the bolt face, so I could increase the travel a few thou! In the above image you see a crescent shape, this is the pin stop, it stops the forward travel in the bolt body. You can measure if you wish, I just use it for a gauge, the moment it goes slack I check it in the bolt body. I keep stoning until the pin is protruding flush with the bolt face. This usually stops mis-fires, if not don't buy that ammo again! Before reassembly a polish any burrs and add just a little light oil. I have done this to several 22 rifles over the years and hardly ever have a mis-fire after the work. U.
