kyska
I can't help you with the calibre but I've had both, the mod 70 in .223 wssm and the Steyr in .223. The Winchester was more accurate, I had to play with the steyr to get it shooting straight, is a mark 1 or 2 you're looking at? IOM, the steyr has a better trigger, the three way safety and the option to shut the bolt with the two stage magazine is genius. The Winchester was better straight out the box, even with the crazy wssm, the steyr became a love of mine. Tenge
I am looking at a mark 1 and the Winchester is a push feed not the controlled feed so a earlier model and not many made Doe the steyr suffer from the front end flexing with bi pod and moderator fitted

It was worse with my poor shooting habit of leaning on the bipod, before it was bedded I was getting two inch groups at 100 yards, easily, but with the odd flyer. A lot of that is my shooting though, I'm not the best shot.
Tenge
so out of the two you would say the steyr is a better buy problem is still like the look of the Winchester with its wood and blued barrel,i want something lasts going to last and be able to get spare parts for it if needed I need something that would be good for off range and on range Edited October 21, 2014 by Tenge
