Underdog
Yep, my frizzen spring went ping the other day on my day off :-(. It is partly my fault as this lock is known for being slowwwww! So I have been fiddling with its geometry and now have going really fast, no time to even flinch anymore lol! Any way before I could lessen the stress on the frizzen spring it bust. I worked out the frizzen was camming over to early but was to stiff at the start of the striking flint. This made for poor flint life and slow questionable ignition. With a new cam shape on the frizzen toe this has been reversed. I did that by tig welding metal and grinding the new can shape. The frizzen is in water in the can. Just before the spring bust I was getting this. It seems I have to wait weeks for a replacement from italy , also negotiating with Peter Dyson however eying an old wall hanger in my room I took the hammer spring out and set to, welding, shaping it to fit. The first time failed trying to keep it cool, second time just let it heat up and cool naturally and it still not broke. Even after 60 strikes from a knackered flint! Here is a shot of it. Fingers crossed I should be back in action until the replacements arrive. I mean, the very thought of not being able to shoot is just to much to bear! U.
