Blackbart
Placing the whirlie is all trial & error most poeple on here will have different ideas as to where to put it.Personally i have it inbetween the hide and the head of the deeks about 10 yards from hide.BUT to be honest most of the time it stays in the jeep,as a lot of the time a pigeons reaction to it is the same as yours would be if you seen your mate, went over to see him then realised he was spinning round on a machine with a five foot pole up his ****. :(
ROBLATCH
the way i place mine depends on which way the wind is blowing as birds nearly always land into the wind. ie if the wind is blowing from the left i place the rotary to the left of the decoys but a little closer to the hide.as mentioned above sometimes the birds will scare at the sight of the wirly ;but i tend to blast them before they come into land or turn on there way.again it is trial and error as to the individual but my preference works well for me. good luck rob
Blackbart
Also if you have made the whirlie make sure the arms and body of the whirlie are dull dull dull.Nothing scares them more than a shinney rotary machine.
