AndyCM
Sat up for a fox tonight, at the original bait corner, and on route saw this, so some scavengers are about. Any experts have an idea what may have dismantled this pigeon ?, that was all that was left, no wings, no head or bits left, just a pile of cleanly plucked feathers. There are no buzzards around here but I guess it could have been another raptor. I had some bait out, although it was quite blustery, so not ideal for bait to work perfectly. This one wanted out of the wind, running straight across the field at me (with no calling on my part), I gave a faint squeek to stop for the shot - at about 15 yards. AndyCM
Sparrowhawk/Goshawk Killed it plucked it eat what it wanted then took the rest away Thanks Kip, I did see a bird of prey in the area, only thing that struck me was the very light underside in flight, before I could get the bins on it, it had gone. My bird of prey id'ing is poor, especially in flight, but it was bigger than a kestrel (but not much).
