njc110381
I went out with the shotty at the farm lunch time, and had a spot on couple of hours. I managed a Crow and a Pigeon, which is pretty good for me. Only fired 8 shots, and a couple of them were to try to get the birds in the air. I put the Pigeon on a freshly ploughed field to see if any more would pass, and some did come off the flight line to check it out. I didn't fire at most of them, as I had my skeet chokes fitted and they were a bit far out. If I'd have planned the day a little better and took the right chokes and some decoys, I think I could have got more. I think it was probably one of my best days yet, and I've got a small portion of Pigeon breasts to cook up something nice with too

njc110381
I'd really like to get a stock of them built up. I put the breasts I got in the freezer, because I'm a tad greedy and don't find one enough if I'm hungry! When I get another, I'll put the four breasts in something nice and enjoy! I think I may start running skeet and 1/4 in my gun, as the pigeon was well dead but not messed up at all. With 1/4 and 1/2 I tend to mash things up a bit, maybe because I don't take on long shots yet? I'm getting more confident now though, as my skeet shooting has improved a bit and I hit a bit more of what I'm going for
dazzyboi
Iv been thinking about changing chokes, but i wanted to keep a tighter pattern as i dont want to be caught out with the longens... May test it out on sporting clays first see how they shine
njc110381
Just remember a clay doesn't take much killing. I've knocked down 60 yard clays easy with 1/2 choke and 7.5s. It's good to know you can hit them though, it boosts the confidence in a big way. Once I get better, 1/4 and 1/2 seems to be the norm. That's what I use normally, but the closer stuff gets mashed sometimes
