thanks for that rimmer i will have a look i can only get back to my great great at the moment major j h wright madras native inf his brother inlaw was lt gen john maitland madras horse artillary retired roaly artillary and his son in law was brig gen arthur g hammond vc kcb corps of guides bengal army i can find the inlaws but not the major ps pontis the info i sent u mit not be that correct also surpost to be a relation of gen camron of the new zealand wars, does any one know the hammonds. i sent a email to the maitland clan and surpized me the cheif emailed me back and said the he was frendly with the lt gens grand son or great he was a major gordon high landers past away now which i thort was really good of the cheif of the maitlands. any one help me on any of these thanks bill

my g grand father came out to new zealand in about 1866 and still a small family down here

We've got some relations out there somewhere originally named Woonton.

My grandmothers brother went out there between the wars but there were some Woontons there a long time before that.
