Ferret Master
Hi, While waiting for the problem fox to put in an appearance this evening I saw a 3/4 grown bunny lolloping across the field. All seemed well and I decided I wasn't going to shoot it as my freezer is full with them. However I was just watching it through my scope and it became apparent that one of its eyes was white and presumably blind in that eye. I then made the decision to shoot it. I was rested on a fence and fox trap so putting the 12 bore carefully on the ground I lined up the shot with my air rifle and upon squeasing the trigger the rabbit rolled over. I walked over to it and necked it as is standard practice for all rabbits I shoot and saw that just behind its dodgy eye was my pellet hole. Walking back I paced it out at 32m. Here is the rabbit and S410. Here is a close up of it's eye. Does anyone know what my have caused this? FM
Big Dog
I shot one last weekend with a white eye that was smaller than the other. I shot it with my .22lr. When I examined the whole rabbit it became clear that someone had taking a shot at it b4 with a shotgun. It ears had holes in them and I conclude that it was hit in the eye too, which caused the damage. Have a good examination to see it you find similar marks. Benny
Its an eye ulcer, caused by slight damage to the eye and then becoming a bit gammy. Ben
